At Simple Hymn, we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use our mobile application.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Android app Simple Hymn. The app is a digital hymnal that lets users create, save, organize, view, import, export, synchronize, and share albums, songs, lyrics, chords, notes, covers, and related content.
This policy does not apply to third-party websites, platforms, or services that may be linked from the app, including Google Play or external sharing apps.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following information:
- Account data: email address, user ID, authentication provider, optional display name, optional profile photo, subscription status, and account-related settings.
- User content: albums, songs, lyrics, chords, notes, markers, timing data, covers, imported files, exported files, and other content you create, edit, save, upload, synchronize, or share through the app.
- Cloud and sync data: content and metadata needed to back up, synchronize, restore, or access your albums and songs across devices.
- Usage and diagnostics: app version, device model, Android version, crash reports, performance data, timestamps, technical identifiers, security events, and logs used to keep the app stable and secure.
- Ads and measurement data: if the app displays ads, advertising providers such as AdMob may process device advertising identifiers, impressions, clicks, and aggregated or pseudonymous metrics.
- Billing information: subscription or purchase status handled through Google Play Billing. We do not store your payment card or full payment details.
- Support communications: messages, email address, and related information you provide when contacting support.
3. How we use information
- Provide the main app features, including creating, editing, organizing, viewing, importing, exporting, and sharing hymnal content.
- Provide account-based features, including backup, cloud sync, content recovery, and access across devices.
- Store your preferences, such as display settings, theme, text size, chord visibility, transposition, and other app settings.
- Manage subscriptions, purchases, premium features, usage limits, and account benefits.
- Show ads, measure ad performance, and support monetization where applicable.
- Detect abuse, protect accounts, prevent fraud, and keep the service secure.
- Improve performance, fix bugs, analyze diagnostics, and maintain app reliability.
- Respond to support requests and communicate important service, security, legal, or policy updates.
4. User content and copyright
You are responsible for the content you create, import, save, upload, synchronize, export, or share through the app, including lyrics, songs, hymns, chords, notes, albums, covers, files, or any other material.
Simple Hymn does not claim ownership of your content. However, by using cloud, sync, backup, sharing, or publishing features, you authorize us to store, process, transmit, display, and make that content available as needed to provide the app’s functionality.
If you add or share copyrighted material, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights, licenses, permissions, or legal basis to do so. We are not responsible for unauthorized use of copyrighted lyrics, songs, hymns, chords, images, files, or other third-party materials by users.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We may share information only as needed to operate, protect, and improve the app:
- Google Firebase: authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, diagnostics, and security services.
- Google Play Billing: purchase and subscription verification.
- AdMob or advertising providers: ad delivery, fraud prevention, and performance measurement.
- Android sharing system and external apps: when you choose to share, export, or open content using another app or service.
- Service providers: technical providers that help us host, store, process, secure, or maintain the app.
- Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, lawful request, court order, or to protect rights, users, security, and compliance.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. Cloud storage, backup, and synchronization
When you use account, backup, or synchronization features, your albums, songs, lyrics, chords, metadata, settings, and related content may be stored on remote servers so that you can access or restore them from compatible devices.
If you delete content from your account or request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize applicable data within a reasonable period, subject to legal, security, backup, or operational requirements.
7. Ads, analytics, and user controls
- Ads: the app may show ads through providers such as AdMob. These providers may use advertising identifiers and related data to show and measure ads.
- Ad personalization: where applicable, you may control ad personalization through Android, Google, or in-app privacy settings.
- Analytics and diagnostics: we may use technical analytics to understand crashes, errors, performance, and app usage in aggregated or pseudonymous form.
8. Legal bases
Depending on your jurisdiction, we process information under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract performance: to provide the app features, accounts, sync, backup, purchases, and support you request.

11. Retention
- Local data: content stored locally remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Account data: account and cloud data are retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
- Deleted content: deleted content may remain temporarily in backups or logs before permanent removal.
- Technical logs: diagnostics and security logs may be retained for a limited period unless longer retention is needed for legal, security, or operational reasons.
- Shared or exported content: once content is shared outside the app, its retention depends on the receiving app, service, or person.
12. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis.

13. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal data from a child without required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect app changes, new features, legal requirements, or operational improvements. We will update the effective date when changes are made. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.
